TRINBAGOPAN: We are now at BP Renegades Pan Yard on Charlotte Street. The Yard is packed with supporters and many more are gathered on both sides of Charlotte Street in front of the Yard. Mr. Michael Marcano, the president for BP Renegades is here with me to tell us what Renegades has in store for us this year.

TRINBAGOPAN: What is your tune of choice this year and who is the arranger?

MICHAEL: Our tune of choice this year is 'Judgment Day' composed and sung by 'De Fosto' and the arranger is Dr. Jit Samaroo, our resident arranger.

TRINBAGOPAN: What are your plans after Panorama this year?

MICHAEL: Well, we have Mas' on Carnival Monday and Tuesday. We will be playing 'Street Party' on Carnival Monday afternoon and on Tuesday it will be 'Sailor Ashore'. That is our Carnival Plan...after we win Panorama (laughter).

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you have any words of advice, or something to share?

MICHAEL: One of the things that is happening in the steelband world presently is that we are not getting the type of Calypsos we used to get before. I wouldn't say they are not suitable for the pan because pan could play anything. In terms of the competition, we need something with a wider harmonic structure than what the Soca music today is offering with the two chords and sometimes the one chord Calypso that we have.

TRINBAGOPAN: What do you think can be done to alleviate that problem?

MICHAEL: Maybe Panmen have to start or continue to compose their own music and play it. We have done some of our own (music)for about two or three years, but this year we are with 'De Fosto'.

TRINBAGOPAN: I think that he (De Fosto)is one of the people who maintains the tradition of making Pan Music. One observation though is that Exodus took a very fast-paced Soca song. What are your views on the fast songs?

MICHAEL: My view is that where music is concerned in terms of a musician wanting to experiment with it, it is fine. It is not like you could be for or against it. As a musician, experimenting and trying something is always welcome.

TRINBAGOPAN: Thank you very much.
