We are at the Queens Park Savannah where the Panorama Semi-finals is taking place. Many of the bands are already here and anxiously awaiting their turn to perform on stage. We are interviewing some of the movers and shakers within these bands to share a general idea of what goes on behind the scenes. With us here is Mr. Bertie Wharwood of Starland Steel Orchestra.

TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Wharwood, what is your tune of choice and who is the arranger?

BERTIE: Our tune of choice is 'Soco Warriors' by Maximus Dan. The arranger is Jason Baptiste.

TRINBAGOPAN: Who is Captain of the Band?

BERTIE: The captain is Saleem Mohamed.

TRINBAGOPAN: Who is the manager?

BERTIE: We have an interim manager which is myself.

TRINBAGOPAN: How has the Panorama 2006 Season been for you so far?

BERTIE: It's been beautiful. We have been doing tremendous work for the past three weeks. We were placed seventh overall in The Small Bands Competition.

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you have any advice for anyone out there who would like to play Pan?

BERTIE: Well yes. For the youths, it is a way for them to come off the streets. They can get some music in their heads. They can do something and learn something. They will be able to do something and stay off the streets.

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you all have any plans after the Panorama Season?

BERTIE: We will be having a school during the August vacation for all the children who want to participate.

TRINBAGOPAN: Where is your Panside located?

BERTIE: We are located at Techier Village, Point Fortin.

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you have any final words?

BERTIE: Good luck to all the small bands, we come to win.

TRINBAGOPAN: Thank you Mr. Wharwood.
