We are at the Queens Park Savannah where the Panorama Semi-finals is taking place. Many of the bands are already here and anxiously awaiting their turn to perform on stage. We are interviewing some of the movers and shakers within these bands to share a general idea of what goes on behind the scenes. We are here with Mr. Shurlan Griffith, Manager of Petrotrin Siparia Deltones.

TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Griffith, how has Carnival 2006 been for you?

SHURLAN: It has been great and hectic. We did some wonderful work with some of the youths. There are a lot of young players in the band and we have been drilling them for the past couple of weeks. It has been hectic because we try to ensure they get home safely after they practice. Coming up to this performance it has been tiring but it was worth the wait.

TRINBAGOPAN: What plans do you all have after this Carnival?

SHURLAN: We have some major projects coming up which I do not want to mention as yet, but we do have a couple recordings and a couple tours overseas we plan to make. There will be a couple of big names included. We just want to get through this hurdle of Panorama, do our best and then we will take it from there.

TRINBAGOPAN: What is your tune of choice?

SHURLAN: Our tune of choice is 'Roll It' by Allison Hinds.

TRINBAGOPAN: Who is the arranger?

SHURLAN: The arranger is Carlton Alexander.

TRINBAGOPAN: Who leads the band?

SHURLAN: The band is lead by Ricardo Marshall. The thing about it is, I think it is probably one of the first collaborations between African Drumming, Pan and Tassa. It will be a first and I hope you enjoy it.

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you have any final words to leave with us?

SHURLAN: I just want to thank Pan Trinbago for all the support they have given us. Also thanks to Petrotrin as well, and we hope to continue with a partnership with them in the future.

TRINBAGOPAN: Thank you.
