First European International Conference on Steelpan
Steelband Music and Education in the 21st Century;
Projecting a Vision of the Future through Global Experiences
30th –31st August 2006

The world-renowned University of East London Dockland’s Campus is the venue for the first European International Conference on Steelpan (30th - 31st August) organised by the University of East London, Nostalgia Steelband and the British Association of Steelbands.

This event brings together panists, composers, tuners, organisers, students, teachers, academics and the public to discuss and explore the potential of this unique art form into more diverse dimensions of society.

A major goal of this conference is to help build a platform to gain recognition of this dynamic instrument to equivalent status of other instruments and facilitate its movement into higher education and academia.

We are inviting anyone with a keen interest in steelpan to participate in this unique event which comprises workshops and presentations.
