Steelband music fans are in for another panyard pilgrimage as the preliminary round of Pan in the 21st Century gets underway on March 16.

The contest, which was excised from last Carnival’s diary of pan events and repositioned to climax on Saturday April 6, requires each band to perform a non-calypso tune in calypso tempo.

Created in 1999, Pan in the 21st Century pioneered panyard judging, a format adopted that same year by the Schools’ Pan Festival and this year extended to include the preliminary round of the national panorama competition.
