Pan seems to be going no where, at least in Trinidad and Tobago.
The reason is that we are still in the pan is a phenomena stage of existence.
Pan is a musical instrument just like any other. The sooner we realize this the better.
It is time that we work to have pan incorporated as a standard instrument in orchestras - particulary symphony orchestras.
As yet no one has attempted a concerto for pan and the traditional symphony orchestra... why?
Don't we have enough talented musicians here for them to attempt that.
Have you ever heard 100 xylophones playing Beethoven's 5th symphony? Can you imagine the cacophony of sound that would emanate from them? Pan needs to be integrated with other intruments.
What can't someone arrange let us say Sparrows "Slave" for pan and traditional syphony orchestra?
....A Fantasia for Pan.
Don't we have a budding National Orcehstra in Trinidad?
Are we waiting for the Japanese or Chinese to do it first?
