PAN ON THE MOVE
Posted By: News
Date: Sunday, 10 February 2002, at 8:55 a.m.
A reminder to those who enjoyed last year’s Roaring Lion Pan on the Move competition that we will again be on Coffee Street, San Fernando from 7 pm on Carnival Monday night for this year’s edition.
The entertainment group Dear Friends and Gentle People has supplied a catalogue of Back in Time Kaiso for airing between band performances and to be used for a party that follows the contest.
Admission is free and the response from steelbands in the southern region has been overwhelming. Each band is required to perform two calypsoes composed by (the late) Roaring Lion, in memory of his outstanding contribution to the culture of Trinidad and Tobago.
The competition is deliberately held in Lion’s hometown of San Fernando, whose Mayor Gerard Ferreira and the City Corporation has donated $20,000 to help defray the cost of staging this event.
For those who may not be able to make it to the TCL Group Skiffle Bunch panyard for the contest, it will be carried live on I 92 FM.

CHAIRMAN
