MEET DANNY GLOVER - PANNIST

The management and players of Woodbrook Playboyz were in their glory last Thursday night as two major events took place that altered the band's history.

At exactly 10.20 pm, Godfrey Bain, Operations Manager of Angostura Ltd, announced that his company was the new sponsor of the band and from now on it will be called Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz.

His announcement was greeted with loud applause.

The other major event was the visit to the pan yard by UN Goodwill Ambassador and American actor Danny Glover.

Here on an AIDS mission, Glover and his UN entourage rounded off their trip listening to the sweet sounds of the national instrument.

Glover was mauled by the many ladies who were seeking his autograph and he was also presented with several gifts.

The first came from Angostura and was given to Glover by former Miss World Giselle La Ronde-West and the other on behalf of Playboyz, by FIFA vice president Jack Warner.

Glover even tried his hands at playing the pan, an instrument with which he became familiar in the USA.

Glover left this country very pleased, having seen how Trinidad and Tobago intends to treat with AIDS and the warmth he received from our people.
